Attractions

Your year-round playground starts right outside your door. But Blue View's sparkling, heated pool is just the beginning. Your home's in the heart of Ontario's best four-season outdoor and indoor fun.

Start exploring now.

Downhill skiing

Blue Mountain is the best part of living at Blue View. Watch it change through the seasons right outside your window, and come winter, hit the greatest ski terrain in the province. Blue's 34 superbly groomed trails are serviced by 12 lifts including 4 high-speed express lifts.

A number of private ski clubs operate along the same stretch of the Niagara Escarpment, giving you a wealth of downhill opportunities.

And you'll stay in tune, with numerous ski retailers and pro shops nearby.

Cross Country Skiing

The rolling hills and dramatic terrain of the Niagara Escarpment make it a cross-country paradise. Within 10 to 20 minutes, you can be skiing at:

Kolapore Uplands -- 50 km of wilderness trails in a ruggedly beautiful nature preserve. The southern section offers flatter terrain for novice skiers, while much of the area provides scenic intermediate and expert trails.

Highlands Nordic -- Groomed daily for classic and skating, the trails wind through maple bush and rolling hills with panoramic views of Georgian Bay. The resort offers cafeteria, washrooms, proshop, repair shop, rentals and waxing area.

Loree Forest - A nice recreational loop for the family. This is just a sampling of area trail networks.

Other winter activities

Take your pick... Tubing, Tobogganing, Snowmobiling, Skating, Curling, Snowshoeing, Ice fishing, Dog sledding

...It's all nearby.

Golf

Lush, dramatic and scenic, Monterra is a top 10 Canadian Resort Course. And the second fairway lies right across the road from your chalet. The course was designed by Tom McBroom with bent-grass fairways rolling toward greens guarded by tricky sandtraps -- 76 of them. Add razorback mounding, plunging ravines, and deceptively picturesque ponds, and you're in for some serious golf.

Awards and rankings:

Score Canada - "Top 10 resort course in Canada" (1990)
Score Magazine - Canada's Top 50 Courses (1993)
Canada's Golf Course Ranking Magazine - Top 35 Course in Ontario & Top 100 in Canada (1996)
Golf Digest - Perennially ranked as a "Top Place to Play" - 4 Star Rating (1999)
Canada's Golf Ranking Magazine - Platinum Ranked (2000)

And the Monterra Golf Audubon Resource team recently received its Audubon Certification, the result of the team's work in the areas of Outreach and Education, Wildlife and Habitat Management, Integrated Pest Management, Water Conservation and Water Quality Management.

Warmed up? The area around your Blue View Chalet is a golfing Mecca, with great courses within a short drive at:

Blue Mountain Golf & Country Club
Cranberry
Duntroon
Marlwood
Meaford
Talisman
Wasaga Sands

Tennis

Monterra offers indoor tennis on five Omni courts open year-round. Join in on Monterra's ongoing round robin tournaments or request your own match.

Mountain Biking

The same terrain that gives the area so much great skiing makes it perfect for mountain biking. You'll find challenging double- and single-track at Kolapore Uplands, Three Stages in the Pretty River Valley, Hardwood Hills, Loree Forest, Meaford Range Road, and in the hills surrounding your Blue View Chalet. To help you make the most of your time on the trails, Blue Mountain offers an Adventure Mountain Bike School from May till the end of season.

Hiking

For easy strolls, a network of walkways and cycle paths winds through the Blue Mountain area, starting right outside your door. The Georgian Trail follows an old railway line from Collingwood to Meaford. And of course, there's the Bruce Trail. Access it at any number of points in the area for dramatic views of Georgian Bay, hikes along rugged cliffs, and meanderings through rolling hills and apple orchards.

Water, water everywhere

A Georgian Bay beach is yours within minutes. Nearby you can swim, windsurf or boat, or just laze along the sandy shoreline. The area is famous for its fishing in the lake and local rivers. In spring and fall, white water challenges canoes and kayaks.

Shopping and dining

Along the winding roads, you'll find great restaurants, country inns and specialty shopping. Or head into Collingwood, Thornbury or Meaford for even more choice.

Festivals and family fun.

Autumn foliage, winter snow, spring blossoms and summer greens herald great gatherings. Enjoy fall fairs, apple harvest festivals, regattas, music festivals and more.
